Guelph Pre-Osteopathic Medicine Society (GPOMS)
GPOMS was established in September 2015 by students at the University of Guelph as a support group for individuals interested in pursuing osteopathic medical education in the US. The group will work closely with COMSA to keep its members up to date and informed on the newest information regarding osteopathic medical training for Canadians, returning to Canada and associated challenges, and the policies and procedures involved. Through this group, students at the University of Guelph can expect to navigate this complex road with ease and become involved with their local communities.
Western Pre-Osteopathic Medicine Society (WPOMS)
WPOMS is a university club that was started by a joint effort between COMSA and a group of highly motivated individuals at Western University in London, ON.
The objectives of the Western Pre-Osteopathic Medicine Society (WPOMS) include the following:
-
To educate university students about osteopathic medicine. Topics may include the following: the role of the profession in Canada, the United States, and abroad; how to practice the full scope of medicine in Canada as a physician with a DO medical degree; how to apply to osteopathic medical schools and become a competitive candidate.
-
To become an active club on campus and within the community. Activities may include the following: organizing various events and fundraisers to promote health awareness; assisting various community outreach organizations in their efforts to better the local community; form connections and collaborate with other clubs on campus to make a combined effort in bettering the local community through events, fundraisers, or similar tasks.
